yesterday, someone discovered an unexploded bomb from world war 2 in my city's university campus, about a kilometre and a half from my house. When I left the house yesterday to go on my daily walk, my mum told me to not go near the university.

the police spent last night covering the bomb in 400 tons of sand, ready for detonation the next day.

today it was annouced that the police would do a controlled detonation of the bomb between 17:30 and 18:30 (GMT). so my family waiting by the window for it to go off, and it did, at 18:12.

the explosion was really loud, despite the fact that we were more than a kilometre away. it was awesome!

today there was a house fire near where I live, and three people, including a four year old girl, were killed. I don't know any of these people, but it's still terrible. it makes you wonder what the chances of that happening to YOU are. very sad
